The ribbon was cut Wednesday and a celebration was had for The Rise Old Town, a new, mixed-use development with 78 market-rate apartments, nine live/work units, and more than 2,300 square feet of ground floor commercial space.
Developer Rembold Properties was selected by the City of Beaverton through a competitive process for the city-owned block. The Rise is a four-story development at Southwest First Street and Angel Avenue.
The Rise Old Town boasts apartment homes, premium amenities and a convenient location.
"This is another gem in downtown Beaverton and there's more to come," Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle said.
The Rise offers studio, one- and two bedroom homes featuring a work/live option and has finishes that include wood-style flooring, full-size in-home laundry, and modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances and premium countertops.
Emily Lyons, a graphic designer with MiaDonna, has been living at The Rise since the units first became available three months ago.
"I love it," Lyons said. "The layout of my one-bedroom apartment is great and versatile. It's a very walkable area." She added that she enjoys using the 24-hour gym in the building.
The Rise is 54 percent leased and is expected to fill up quickly, according to Rembold.
Metro Councilor Kathryn Harrington, who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, said "Isn't it gorgeous? There is uniqueness in each of the units." She added that the space was beautiful with amazing views of the mountains from the large windows and the rooftop deck.
"These are modern, urban-style apartments, right here in the suburbs," Harrington said. "It's close to restaurants, parks, the library, the Farmers Market and the MAX. It's a great solution for people across a wide age range. Rembold has a long history of high-quality products and this is a prime example of that. Metro invests in projects like this to enable more ridership and this is one of them. We've seen under Mayor Doyle's leadership, a tremendous transformation of making Beaverton better every day."
The Rise offers a variety of outdoor entertainment spaces such as a rooftop deck complete with barbecue, pet/bike washing stations, and a penthouse lounge with a chef's kitchen.
It is also a pet-friendly community. The Rise is located 15 minutes from downtown Portland close to shopping, dining and entertainment. Rentals range from mid-$1,200 to $1,900 per month.
